He developed an appreciation for free speech as the President of the College Libertarians and the Federalist Society where he sought to bring those with divergent opinions together for debate and discussion. After serving as a legal intern for FIRE, he became a student attorney for the Criminal Defense Clinic where he defended indigent Syracuse residents on misdemeanor charges. Note: FIRE is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization.

In episode 219 of the Fraternity Foodie Podcast, we find out why Zach decided to attend Binghamton University for his undergraduate experience, why he joined Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity as a Founding Father, why he’s so passionate about the First Amendment, what FIRE does, some of the core programs that FIRE offers for awareness and activism, the implications when Harvard dropped its policy against single gender clubs on campus, other suppression of First Amendment rights on campuses, and what a college student can do if they see signs of restrictive speech policies. Enjoy!
